The Kumaon is designed by award-winning Sri Lankan architects Pradeep Kodikara, a disciple of Geoffrey Bawa, and his partner Jineshi Samaraweera. The result is an elegant, pared down construction.

All buildings are constructed and situated with sensitivity to their natural environment, allowing guests to feel immersed in nature. This is a place that encourages gazing and dreaming.

Nearly all the elements used in the construction were hand-made on site, with a particular emphasis on self-design and fabrication.
