Ambica Beri's love for visual arts inspired her to open Gallery Sanskriti in 1990 in Kolkata. Today, Gallery Sanskriti is recognised for its modern Indian art collection and exhibitions on contemporary Bengal artists. The gallery holds seminal works by prominent artists and promotes emerging artists. And, now Ambica has opened art Ichol Residency in Madhya Pradesh.

In her words, “Art Ichol is a commune where resident artists can congregate, collaborate and envisage concepts”.

The residency is spread across three locations: Maihar - the heritage residency & ceramic studio, Art Ichol - the art centre and Amaria - the writer’s retreat. In her twenty five years of experience as a gallerist, Ambica realised that there were hardly any opportunities available for artists working on large artworks to exhibit their work. Art Ichol will serve as an open art gallery for such artists.
