Jonapur is one of the dusty, time-warp-y urban villages that are now part of Delhi’s landscape. Partially swallowed up by the big city ethos, this little village has some exclusive farmhouse plots, and big fancy cars, all cheek by jowl with tiny village houses and old men smoking a hookah in the street, watching the world go by.

If you delve into one of the side lanes in this village, you’ll come across a large whitewashed building with a blue door.

You have arrived – serendipitously – at Serendipty. A store like no other.

Push open the big blue door and step into another world. The noise immediately ceases, a sense of quiet and peace descends, as you sit in the open courtyard, surrounded by flowers and beauty.

Serendipity Store Image

The brainchild of the effervescent and charming Kuldeep Kaur, Serendipty is a home for beautiful furniture, gorgeous fabrics – most of them Kuldeep’s own designs – clothes, rasais (quilts), decorative objects she has curated…it’s just like being in the elegant home of a friend with excellent taste.

From village home to crowded dormitory to a storage godown to a restored thing of beauty, the haveli housing Serendipity is now, in this beautiful avatar, a place to relax and potter around, and admire the lovely objects Kuldeep has designed or sourced.

There is a casual elegance to Serendipity, as you wander from one room to the next, admiring a few elegantly placed items. No hard sell. No pressure.

Now if this isn’t tempting you to take down a book from the shelves and stretch out and while away the afternoon...this sums up the mood at Serendipity. Relaxed. At home. Welcoming.

The enclosed courtyard has once again become the heart of the renovated haveli, with all the rooms opening onto it, just as in a real home.

Serendipity Store Image

Retro design meets funky new fabric equals iconic Serendipity style.

Serendipity Store Image

Whether you crave classic designs or charmingly quirky motifs, the range and quality on show in Serendipity is outstanding. Kuldeep’s professional journey started with fabrics and it is an area she both loves and knows in depth.

Serendipity Store Image

All the colours of village India in one glorious group. Peacock–coloured glass tumblers, each shade more tempting than the next.

The fabric is designed by Kuldeep. The sofa is deliciously retro. The result is totally serendipitous.

Serendipity Store Image

Urban sophistication meets village India, in a marriage of style and colour.
