Art: Contest

To celebrate the city of New Delhi on its 100th anniversary. We ran a photography contest in 2011. The brief was simple - "submit a picture that shows Old and New Delhi in a single frame". We got many thought-provoking, interesting and beautiful entries!

The winner was Neha Chaudhary, her picture is shown on the right. Sapna Bhatia, Bring Home Stories founder interviewed her.

Sapna: When did you get interested in photography?

Neha: I have always been interested in photography. When I was nine years old, my dad gifted me my first camera.

With that camera, I clicked almost everyone around me. I even developed some pictures and made a little money.

After that, I left my hometown Assam and came to Delhi for further studies. Here I also joined a photography course at Triveni Kala Sangham

Sapna: You entered the Bring Home Stories's Delhi 100 contest and won the top prize. What did it mean to you?

Neha: It meant a lot to me as it gave me the confidence to start my own venture. I started my own company with two of my friends. Our venture is called Yellow Umbrella.

Sapna: Tell me about the winning picture. Where was it taken?

Neha: It was taken in Delhi's, Select city walk mall. I was at a distance and saw these monks and got a little curious and then found the right moment to click this picture.
